    Interesting - Money Pit Assassins

So...I purchased an E30 as my DD thinking that I can get by not wanting to buy stuff for it and just drive it until it craps out. The whole idea is to save gas/money and keep my E90's mileage as low as possible.

Picked up the car last week and I'm already down $1000 dollars + the purchase price of the car. This is just the tip of it since it's basically just me trying to get it a safe drivable condition. I'm hooked and wanting to buy more stuff for it to make it look half as good as some of the cars I've seen here.

Looking at the forum, I'm just a rookie. I'm nowhere near the vets that's modding, buying, spending the cash to get that perfect E30. These cars are ninja assassins and the victim is your savings...*buyers beware*...nuff said.

I agree, it is a disease, it's sick! What's worst is that I live 5 minutes away from a company that specializes in salvaging E30s. They're literally a professional brick/mortar version of a junkyard...that sells E30 stuff for market price, not some crazy BMW stealership pricing.

My wife is going to kill me...lol

              I stopped keeping track 15k ago...granted I have a completely rebuilt e30 ;)

These cars add up fast if you go all out. I told myself I would be done once the car was on the road...I just finished a complete race head(all Schrick parts) and now going turbo. And tonight I drove 3 hours for a pair of Recaros...I better not ever get married!

They're more fun to mod than an E90 as well because parts are generally cheaper, which means you can buy more and not worry about it as much.

You nailed it. I've modded my E90 to the point where the next mods are going to be $1000+ per mod. With the E30, I get more mods for my dollars but that thinking of saving money gets negated when I add it all up, haha...assassins!!!!!

I started off just wanting to do an engine swap and its turned into a complete restoration....http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=250378

Today we decided to re-install the heater box and dash. I thought I would clean out the heater box and ended up replacing the ac evaporator and the heater core....$375.00....lol

I bought my 4th e30 in 3 1/2 years in July.We broke our racecar and our track rat last friday at a HPDE and had to make 2 trips to tow them both home,we think it cost us about 1k so far,but we spent the whole 18 hr day laughing our heads off.

My advice:Get that e30 to the track as soon as possible, drive the snot out of it until it breaks, sell your house, trade the e90 for a truck and trailer and live in the truck underneath a bridge to afford more e30 parts.
                          1990 325is "the rat"/ E30 Warsteiner tribute racecar/1985 325e "faded Glory"/ 1968 Chevy II Nova "the baby"/ 2001 525i 5spd purchased May 2013 with 16k miles. Plus other junk that annoys the neighbors.

I bought a 325e as a beater for $325 so I didn't wear down my M3 too much years back. I ended up sinking like 3-4 grand into it as well as doing a complete I drive train swap.
