Selling a High-Mileage Engine?

Is it better to sell a high-mileage (250k+) engine as a whole or as parts? Consider engine is pulled in perfect running condition, cams and sprockets are in great condition, etc.

probably easier to sell complete.

But, it'll be easier to sell if you do a compression and/or leakdown test on it before you pull it, and document those numbers. Still won't be able to get top-dollar for it, but those numbers should help ease any potential buyers' mind.

Selling based on compression and leakdown results would be best. Miles mean very little if it was driven by an old german man who religiously maintained it.

Agreed condition is what most people would look for so if you have documentation proving it has good compression and low wear on the cam ect it should be fine
