BMW E30 to E53?!

Hey guys,

So my dad is getting a used '01 X5 and it's mostly because he wants me to drive a AWD car during the winter when it snows. He feels worried with the RWDs of my e30 even though I never really had any problems. He also wants me to just keep my e30 in the garage and keep it in good condition until maybe 5-10 years later. One of my problems is definitely going to miss the car, but another one would be the mpg. As a student, gas $ to me is still a lot so I would not really want to drive such a heavy car. Plus, I've been so use to driving such an easy and lovable car and driving such a big car seems scary at first.
What do you all think of going from an e30 to an 53!

I'm sorry if I offended any of you for this, but I have been looking at these forums for about a year now and decided to join recently without any knowledge of my dad getting an X5. I will always love my e30 and would never trade it for anything else and that is why I do have a conflict here because I am not that happy about driving an X5 as I do with my current car.
