What is the point of censoring your license plate?

Not sure if this has been discussed here before or if i should've started this in the off-topic subforum. Please move if need be.

I'm curious to know why people censor their license plates when posting pics of their car...is it because you think someone will track your car down to where you live and steal it? Is that even possible?

Wondering if i should be doing the same thing...

It's a moot point. Hundreds of people see your plate every day in real life.

      Ssshh! Big brother is watching.

No, but seriously I dont thik it's that likely that someone will use your plate number to track your car down and steal it. But then again you never know these days.

I dont think its likely either...but even if someone wanted to track you down...is it easy to do so? Unless you're Five-O i dont think you can do that...I could be wrong tho.

Same reason Mr. Graves blurs out his key in one of his pictures. You never know what people can/will do!!

I always thought people did it more because they might have posted a video or "kill" story of them doing illegal shit like going three times the speed limit or whatnot. So they blur out their plates in pics to foil the fuzz.

The only legitimate reason, for me, is insurance reasons. Insurance companies sometimes look around for pictures of cars insured with them being used outside their legal uses(i.e., track days, rally etc).
