Economy mode 2500 or 3k and skip gears

I do this all the time! I hate it how most people charge up to a stoplight and slam the brakes...

I hate this so much too, scares the shit out of me. I normally try to leave enough space between me and the car in front of me to get out of the way just in case.

I try to shift under 3K but that's wishful thinking. Normally, around 4K.
