School me on E91 sport wagons

    Hey R3V,

So my wife and I are considering buying a 2009-11 328i (or xi) sport wagon w/ sport package. Is it a good car? Does anyone know if they have tons of issues/problems or weird quirks?

We already own a e53 X5 and a 91 318i so we were thinking it would be a nice addition to our growing family. Any input is appreciated. :)

    Thanks in advance!

NA e90/1/2/3's are pretty reliable. I have an e90 330i sport pkg, which also uses the N52 engine. I had one issue with the door locks not unlocking while the car was under warranty, and just dealt with replacing the ignition coils and spark plugs (common issue, not sure if this was unique to 330's.) Power folding mirrors (prem pkg) get quirky where it moves past where its supposed to stop (minor quirk, is not integral to the car). Other than that, no issues, knock on wood. Parts are pricey on newer BMW's, but without turbos you'll be exempt from a lot of e90 issues you hear about. Also check out e90post for tons more info.

Thanks for the helpful info! its positive to hear that the NA cars dont have many issues compared to their turbocharged counterparts (more heat = more problems right?). Pricey parts are understood but luckily there are options for discounted parts. I think we may go for it if we can find the right one. :) Thanks again!

Most common NA E9X issues are window regulators, door lock actuators, power folding mirrors, and evaporators. I don't think I've ever done an evap on an E91 but its the same part so I'm sure it's just as common. Oil filter housing gaskets are not as common but do occasionally leak. They're pretty solid cars though.

Right on, it really doesn't seem too bad owning the NA E9X cars. It'll have the factory warranty for another year or so plus another 2 yr CPO warranty on top of that so it'll be a bit before i have to worry about repairs.

I like what im hearing. :)
