drove from long island to cleveland...blew trans

I got all the way to chardon Ohio and cruising at 70 MPH on the highway I heard BANG. Now I only have 4th gear. I drove out here to pick up an s50 andand my friend who's selling it to me found a guy with a g260.. might be installing it tonight in mu buddies garage. I'm pulling this trailer but wtf how does every gear just grenade besides 4th???

so you cant shift into those gears? or you shift into them and it acts like its in neutral?

shifter moves into all the spots ... I just get neutral action in everything besides 4th

Is the trans busted inside? I'm buying one from a guy .. suck s cause he wants 350..I have a whole 5lot speed swap at home I can't even give away

What year car?

Might be the selector fork in the trans

90. G260 trans. It would just pop out violently on the highway?

I know 4th is direct drive so should it stay useable in 4th at least until I get it to a place to fix it? This guy wants 350 for the trans which seems silly since I couldn't sell my whole 5 speed swap for that much in NY. And yes I still have the 5 speed swap all sitting 500 miles away at home. Doesn't that suck?

Got a trans. Friend let me use his lift and tools at a brand new shop that's not even done yet. Super grateful for his help( he's the same Guy I got the s 50 from). I'm back on the road and pulling a trailer full of s50 and broken e30 trans. The weather forecast is grim though with hurricane sandy.. so NY is closing the bridges and tunnels so I'm a bit stuck
