If you don't notch the pan you get drive train angle, and you have to use subframe spacers which induce bump steer and change the geometry of the suspension (body increases in height relative to the subframe).
Notching the oil pan eliminates the need for subframe spacers and makes the drive train angle to what it should be. Unfortunately if you go this route you need to make your own mounts because no one sells such mounts. What you save on the subframe spacers can be put toward paying someone to notch the pan. -
Is that what you meant? Why would you want to make mounts that require you to notch the oil pan? I ask simply b/c I don't know what a m62 swap entails, and I want to know in case I go that route with my e30Something no one is making as of current is m60/m62 mounts that don't require oil pan notching. The only mounts available are mounts that require the use of subframe spacers. Mounts that make the motor sit lower eliminate drive train angle. The future for the m60/2 swaps are these types of mounts.Leave a comment:

Solid control arm bushings that are stock geometry instead of "M3" geometry. Treehouse racing sells some and bimmerworld also sells a Chinese knock off. Both increase castor, which for most people isn't favourable. Another idea is to make the bushing inside bigger (say half or 1/4 of OEM) would take away from the harshness.

Can you imagine if the output were equivalent to today's 24v swaps (m50/s52)?
There would basically be no reason for anyone to do those swaps anymore if the price of the head was reasonable.
RD claimed 100 bhp/liter back in the day for their 24v head. That is well into and past the territory of todays 24v swaps.Last edited by noid; 10-27-2012, 08:29 PM.Leave a comment:

E30 parts to be made
What are some things that the e30 guys would like to see made that isn't yet? I'm looking for another project and would like to make something and make a few extra to sell here. Just so you know I have a smallish machine shop so no cnc or anything like that but I'm pretty capable. Just looking for ideas.
Ps don't say 5 lug or body kits, thats too big for me.Tags: None
