There is such a thing. It is called a S52. And if you prefer the 2.5lt guess what its called. Thats right an M52.

It'd be cool to have one so the length below the ball is adjustable to adjust the throw, as well as the length above the ball to adjust the height. So you could have a shifter that's fully adjustable in both ways.Leave a comment:

I am sure we could get enough people to commit to buy to allow for the economies of scale of creating casts, blue prints, contacts, etc.While I agree that it could be a potent combo, I doubt the price would be anywhere near that for a 24V head. In order to cover the costs of a bare casting, you probably looking at ~$1000/per. Then you add the machining of everything on the head, and new valve covers, it's probably another $1000. Then you need two cams, 24 valves, valve guides, two cam sprockets, and all seals... The total cost for a 'bolt on' application would get up there pretty quick. I would be surprised if it could be done for less than a S54 swap honestly.
The alum block would be a little bit more reasonable, though still quite tricky. The hardest part here would be making sure to retain the structural integrity and prevent self-destruction due to harmonics (see the M54 oil pump issues).
That's not to say it isn't something I want to dig a bit deeper into, but it wouldn't be based on mass production or trying to turn a profit. More like a personal project. I've been in the foundry industry my whole life, so it's the kind of thing that I know I would enjoy.Leave a comment:
