I figured you were too lost in Porsche land to be of help, so I stepped in. Forgive me if I overstepped my bounds.
(I deal with having to order keys for customers at least once a week. BMW is very picky, but not as bad as Mercedes Benz....)
No bounds were stepped, over or under. I knew the general concept, but obviously my specifics were lacking the proper content. Do you recall the current price for new keys?
Porsche Land is a sore in my backside at the moment, E30 is DD and solid as a rock. And filthy dirty.

I think they were around $45. Haven't done e30 keys in a forever time. Mine were like $35 ea, but I basically get stuff a little over cost. We get stuff at 20% under MSRP, so somewhere around $45 sounds about right.
Remember, you can only make a copy of a copy like 5 times. They begin to be ill fitting, and you must go new. Don't bitch, get a fresh one, stow it away and have a couple copies made. That way your good new key stays fresh and you ruin the $1 turds Ace turns out.
...and yes they will cut a steel key. I've had them do it may times.
