What's going on guys. Buying a 1990 325i. Runs strong and is in good shape. Any suggestions on what I should do first!? I have about a grand left over. Let me know what you guys think!

Timing belt if it hasn't been done recently. Then bring it up to speed with some regular maintenance, oil change, maybe spark plugs, air and fuel filters. Then go from there.

I don't think maintenance has been mentioned yet.

Well yes I was obviously going to do all of that I should have mentioned that. . But after, what is a reputable lowering kit or springs. Some wheels tires etc...

I could spend a good pinch of money on maintenance items.

H&R are good springs as well as Bilstein shocks to get you lowered on the quick and cheap.

Honestly though, spend that grand on maintenance. You will enjoy it more in the long run.

IMO the only reason to go with H&R/Bilstein over GC/Koni (basic street kit) is for points in autocross/track events. You'll enjoy the coilovers much better, they're adjustable in height and dampening, and you can pick any spring rates you want. Koni dampers are significantly better than bilsteins (other than custom valved setups). Price wise it's like $150 difference.

Forgive my idiocy, but what size mm springs should I look at from h&r

                              Searrcchhh.

Which springs and shocks to lower has been beaten to death.

Checkout the suspension section, do all maintenance on your suspension before you lower it, because then everything will jut be worse off.

                              Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.
