Eat your turkey, then come watch some vintage racing!

Not sure this matters, but admission is $10 a person.
    Hey R3V,

I'm part of a club called the Vintage Racer Group that's active on the East Coast at a variety of tracks like New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Lime Rock Park, and VIR among others. The group accepts cars ranging from pre-WWII grand prix and specials racers to late-70s sedan and endurance racers. We have an annual event Thanksgiving weekend at Summit Point, West Virginia called the Turkey Bowl that is open to the public, but not exactly publicized.
Here is a link to their website if you're curious about the cars involved:

    Pictures!

I figured that many of us on here are not only BMW fans, but fans of cars in general, so I wanted to extend an invitation to anyone willing to make the trip sometime Thanksgiving weekend. While most of the cars are older and decidedly non-BMW, there are always some 2002s, 320i's, and even a couple E30's racing!

All the racers are great guys to talk to and you can learn a ton about some really cool machinery while you're there. And the racing is pretty fun to watch, too! :D

If I was closer, I would be all over something like this! Please post some pics from the event if you can.

Do Jimmie Kimmel ever show up to any of these events. He's got a very nice collection of vintage racers that he actually uses. This looks like a blast.

I've never seen him, but I have met Paul Newman, Carroll Shelby(both when I was younger), Stirling Moss, and Rob Walton. I've chatted with Tony Adamowicz (F5000) and David Hobbs a bit, too.

So we finished our first day of racing today. All three cars ran great, and two of us won our groups in the afternoon! Here are a couple photos of our camp:

I'm uploading a video from the morning warmup session and I hope to get a bunch more over the course of the weekend! Come on out!

It's a blast! The Cortina has got to be the most fun car there is. It likes going sideways more than straight.

Sorry for the delay, but my last race is just before lunch on Sunday. There are groups running until about 4pm Sunday though.

You mentioned that there were some E30s running with you. I don't remember VRG, SVRA, etc having a class for such modern machines. Do you guys have an equivalent to the VARAC "Group 70+" class? If so, I'm in! We've been building a 190E 2.3-16 for vintage racing in Canada, but have no one to run with down here.
