Did BMW ever make an E30 digital Cluster like the VW Digifiz
An awesome collection of epic supercar pictures and galleries. Enjoy the beauty, aggression and outright strinking nature of the best cars on the planet.
Yea agreed, I personally think its not retro enough, I really liked some of the older ones from the 80s like the digifiz or Z31...but yea you would prolly have to sell it all as one piece...if you need any help, locating parts, or design please let me know, I would love to help
It seems like it would cost a butt load, but i would def love this, i feel like i would spend up to $500 for it, but if you made a harness for it and let people buy their own s2k cluster and all thry had to do was buy a harness it would be considerable cheaper all around
I dont think it would be as easy as a wiring harness, just looking at things offhand. It would probably be a harness and control unit of some sort to get it running, then a pair of brackets and a fascia adapter to install it. I'll start poking around and see if I can make something work.
I'm also not totally in love with the S2000 cluster, so I might just end up making my own cluster inspired by the S2K.
Used s2000 cluster are going for about $200 on ebay. This is a pretty common procedure on older Honda's. I would bet it isn't too different wiring into an older Honda vs. an older BMW. Think about how different new and old BMW's are.
Hypothetically, what would people pay for a drop in cluster replacement for an E30 that mimics/ is inspired by the S2000 cluster?
I've been looking for a new project, and I've been poking around figuring out how the clusters work, so this might be the next thing on my to do list. The only question is whether I just build one for myself, or try to make a small batch of them.
