    Damn clutch hydraulics!

Cluth master or slave has failed on my '89 325is. Total bummer considering I just did the whole timing belt, water pump ordeal and completed replacing every coolant hose in the engine bay. That and i just installed the MarkD chip and 19#ers last week. I was actually really suprised it worked well enough to get me home from work. As soon as i parked, i tried to put it in first ( weak ass ebrake) and couldnt. If thats not luck (or my car loves me back?) i dont know what is.

So no fluid in the footwell means master, right?

Well that would save me $50 bucks. I guess ill call BMA for a quote on one, see if it beats my dealer discount.

If it's the slave cylinder it's an easy fix.

Mine has been eating fluid for a couple days now, leaves little puddles everywhere. Clutch still works fine, just have to keep adding brake fluid. Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend.

Could still be the master. Just because there is not a massive puddle at your feet, doesn't meen that the master is still fine.

I had that, thought all i needed to do is add fluid, and then one day, bam, wouldn't hold fluid anymore (seal went on vacation). Replace it ASAP so you don't get stuck.

You can usually pick one of those up at a local Advance Auto Parts for $35.

Well im just gonna do both the master and the slave. If one is okay, it wont be for long and i dont want to get stranded somewhere terribly inconvenient. I can get the slave for that much and the master for about $50 because my brother is a mechanic and gets wholesale prices. Anybody know off the top of their head who the OEM was?

FAG IIRC for clutch hydraulics. Actually, I'm 100% sure that FAG is the slave, I'd assume master is the same.

thankfully when mine went out it was after not driving the car for a week and it was in the garage at home.
