Yeah, I just learned that. Gotta purchase it and they can program a few things for you.

I'm driving a loaner Hybrid 3'er now. This is surprisingly better than the last car and that one was better than the very first 2012 model that came out. I'm shocked as to how much they are changing within the year.

sport, comfort, and eco mode options are annoying that it resets after restart. I like eco mode that it limits your acceleration but the design aspects are incorrect. like if you turn traction off and then switch to sport, the traction is turned back on and you have to revisit the switch to turn traction off again.

My e90 has the Internal HDD to store music, I love it! lol.

The loaner I got was a base 328i with almost nothing cool on it, I hated that it had the whole screen and idrive system but no navigation. Makes it seems very poser-ish. I did not like that LOL

Yes, I does have a hard drive to store music on.
I find the I drive quite simple to use actually.

What I hate, is the complete lack of a dipstick, and no coolant temp gauge at all. I have no idea when this thing is warmed up.

This one appears to have internal HDD to store music? and Google search option... economy history in graphical form... the list seriously goes on and on.

The the idrive is SO complicated. Im pretty savy with that stuff but it takes way too much thought with the depth in menus and screens you could be in. I like that they itemized the menu options into buttons around the idrive button but its still too complicated to work the radio.

as for handling, its not that good truthfully.
I agree completely with ohthejosh about the steering disconnect. its twitchy and drifts - could it be steer by wire? ive driven a few 3 series and they all are somewhat the same.
power on demand is laggy (in the 328i) and 8 gears arent as cracked up as youd think.
Traction control is a joke and lack of LSD is alarming when say in the mountains.

as for my 335d, i like it because its spacious like the e34 yet handles better than any other e90+ with comfort in mind. the torque is very rewarding and yet the sound and feel of the engine at any level of performace is so refined that combustion engines seem awkward and overdone (they have to rev up so high to produce power).

I like the e90 better than the f10 in terms of the driving experiencing, the 4 cyl twin turbo is pretty peppy on sport mode but the dumb stuff like the engine shut off at stops annoys me. Granted it can be shut off, it's stupid nonetheless.

Also theres a disconnect from the steering wheel to the actually motion of the car. The e90 still has that connection from steering wheel to tires on the ground. I just wonder when the m3 will come out and would love to try that thing out.

It got more isolated with electronics and less mechanical.

    This!!!!
Dealers should be hiring electricians to do electrical work rather than Mechanics/Techs.
Thats how we do it on the railroad at least. Our locomotives are heavy on electrical.. Only makes sense IMO

man, it feels like i fell off the earth. changed jobs which moved me into re-building a company that I hope ... doesn't threaten my relationship with the car. Had a kid too, hes 2 now... wtf!

and thats not my car but the loaner due to excessive SCR issues with my diesel.
These 2012's IMO are WAY too loaded down with electronics. I can't wait until the warranty discrepency is solved (in my favor). *bullshit*
Yep, just wait untill your speed sensitive wipers start acting up, and they tell you they have to replace your front abs sensor to fix it. Ahhh electronics.
