I'm about to drive my wife's E30 off a cliff...

If it's not one thing with this fucking car, it's another. For starters, the control arm ball joints are so badly shot that the car clunks like a mother over every bump in the road. I have new control arms to put on it, but there's 3 inches of snow and ice all over the ground, and I don't have a garage. Then 2 weeks ago, the heater core valve blew, dumping almost all of the car's coolant into the driver side floor, so I had to replace that. The car also has some kind of cooling issue, most likely the water pump, which I have, but once again, it's winter and I don't have a garage.

Tonight, the fucking rear view mirror somehow falls off of the little arm that holds it to the sunvisor panel. I can't for the life of me get it back onto the little ball, and even if I could, the arm has somehow come loose from whatever holds it in place in the sunvisor panel. Apparently, when my wife went to buy the surround sound setup for her parents for christmas, the guy that put it in the car nailed the mirror with it. Of course, she didn't say anything about it then, so now her rear view mirror is fucked. I'm so sick of this fucking car, I can't wait to get rid of it.

i came to the realization that excluding the m3, the '91 318is is the bestest e30, evar.

Yeah, it's an 89 325i. I would love to get her a 4 door 318i, good on the gas mileage. But she needs something a little more "family-car", like a small SUV, especially with the baby coming soon. She wants a Mazda Protege5, but I'm trying to get her into something more like a Rav-4 or a CR-V.

If yer gonna get something to replace it.... Get the CR-V. Good lil cars and you can make em look decent too and still function like the grocery-mobile you need em for. Pres of my car club has one done up Kinda funny lookin bein lowered but all in all is kinda pimp.

Don't none of yer Oregonian friends have a garage you can use? Gotta be someone...

              A 535i/5 would be a nice replacement.

e30's are just like woman - they have their moments of good fun...and bad pain in the ass.

Stick it thru, Josh! It'll work out in the long run!

(Although...damn, that would suck to have the heater core blow out...yuck)

Edit: Damn, josh...your post count is 8,666.... lol

This ford escape that I have is not bad. 4wd, alright on gas, small suv, it is alright. And they are cheap too.

Get a Subaru legacy wagon. We've had 2 now and loved them both. Decent gas mileage, much more room than the cars you've mentioned, and they'll last until the rust takes over - very good engines.
Driving is the only way to go faster....

I'd help him out but he is 100+miles away from me, and i dont think the car would make the journey just to get to a garage.

I feel the same way about my car now too Josh. Blower fan is on strike, rear caliper seazed, low compression in cyl. #2, and just got a huge fucking dent in the rear driver door.

                          I want a god-damn corolla for DD.

That is a good analogy of the e30 and women. Both mine were fun, and like my last and current GF, crashed and burned!

Don't get a CRV or a RAV-4. Jap cars are repliable, usually, but get chinky. I cannot stand them after 80k miles!

Get a nice 1995 e34, 525i gets great mileage, or if she needs some power, get her a 540i.

I know I'll get flamed, but let me tell you, you should get the MPV, or consider a good condition used Sienna or Odyssey. If you get a Sienna, I know a lot about them as my wife has one, and I'd be happy to offer you any assistance with it.

You won't regret it when you need to haul big stuff.
