This is what happens when you live in NYC....

Was on Queens Blvd the local side next to Sears on 63rd. There was a manhole cover that wasn't paved correctly, didn't see it till it was too late. Figured i just cracked it, me and friends tow roped it to my house. Just for sh**s and giggles i went to check it this morning because we didn't see the damage last night it was dark out as I looked under the car I saw this and EL OH EL ED followed by FML. Took the pan, bolts, and the oil pick up. Sigh.

Yeah, this can definitely happen, especially with the M42 pan, which is the lowest by far of any E30. Sucks dude.

It rains constantly in Seattle and it is night time quite frequently but you don't see me destroying my oil pan.

Sucks for sure....convinced that NYC roads are maintained for Crown Vics and Town Cars only...

been to NYC three times...all I can remember is THE question..."got a cigarette or a quarter?" at every street corner. And, oh yeah, bouncing violently inside a taxi cab.

Is the car on stock springs?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

And that is why my e30 lives outside of the city.

Sounds like you have never been outside of your area. Roads are worse in other parts of the country. Learn to drive. A manhole is easy to avoid.
