New member from Tulsa! (with pics..)

So glad to see such a big forum with tons of great info, I definitely will need it. This is my first e30 and it needs some work.

I bought my first BMW in March of this year (the 08 135i). But always wanted an older e30 too. I bought the e30 for $650 last week on craigslist. I just digging into it to find out what all it needs.

Measured the cars yesterday...They are the same height and length. But the 135i is 5" wider, and of course a lot heavier.

Haven't you ever seen Russian Nesting Dolls? They work like that.

I'm really loving the 135i's. Especially since they are the same size as e30s. My current dream car is to have a 1-series M or a 1-series hatchback, besides the new electric BMW's in the works. Too bad they will never bring the 5-door hatchback 1-series to the US.

Thanks for comparing the size of both cars, I have always wondered exactly how close in size they are. I have also tried looking for a picture of both side-by-side showing the size comparison.

The 1 really looks a lot bigger, but its just bulging curved shape of it. The 3 series body is so square off it looks smaller. My 1 looks like a dwarf when I park next to a camry or a newer 4 door appliance.

I love the 1 though. It just does everything so well, gets good mpg, and its still quiet and comfortable to drive 75 miles a day. I would love to mod it, but its under warranty.

I would love to have a 135. I also drive my boyfriends '06 550i (360hp) and although it's very fast off the line, it's quite the boat. I've always thought that a smaller car like the 1-series or 3-series would be so much more fun with about the same amount of hp.

I've got a 135 too, love it. Its so toss-able and just fun to drive really reminds me of a e30, with the exception of the cost of ownership.

135i is about the same size actually as the e36.

135i is a good car- except the run flat tires wearing all messed up. Nice looking E30 for cheap!

I recently found out changing out the springs wont void the warranty :) It will only be void if something breaks and they see you have changed out the springs. It wont be void if everything is in order and no issues are found.

I will keep you in mind if I need some help. Im ok with car stuff and really want to learn how to work on this car. Im waiting on new hoses to come in before I can drive it around and troubleshoot.

The only thing that scares me is the electrical system being a bit of a mess.

Great to see some Tulsa people on here. Might have to hang out sometime and talk cars. I dont know any E30 people in the area.
