You disobeyed the law and got caught. I'm so tired of seeing these threads. Cops can do what ever they want. Why? Becuase they are cops duh! They are the authority, They can sit how ever they want in the road, ask you questions on just probable cause and a lot more, and you trying to fight and complain about how its not fair won't change a thing. Who is a court gonna believe? You or a cop?
drive the speed limit and obey the rules
/thread
This thread is not about complaining and trying to get out of the ticket. I am not saying that I did not disobey the law and that I did not speed. And I agree with you that cops can do whatever the hell they want, legal or not.
This thread was intended to discuss the politics of traffic laws and what they mean.
So, stop complaining about speeding ticket threads like these and go look at another thread.

As great at lying as we think we all are, under pressure we fail pretty hard core, and we fail even more so if someone trained is the one asking questions. An example of this would be the airport security in Israel. Before entering the airport a guard asks you who you are, where you are going, why you are going there. They are looking for any signs that things may not be quite right. Part of this is to get you on another charge, part of it is self protection. When a cop pulls someone over in the middle of the night, they do not know yet if you are an absentminded civilian, or someone that just committed a murder. The sooner they can figure out how to handle you, the safer they are.
So while questions need not be answered, if the truth is easy and legal, let the cop be at ease and play along is my motto. It's also why when I get pulled over I put both my hands high on the steering wheel. If however he's bored stupid and asks if he can rip apart my car, I will decline and ask for a warrant.
Also, if a cop pegs you doing 55 in a 45, and you answer the question "How fast were you going" by saying "58", guess which number will be on the ticket? It doesn't matter if you were really going 43, an admission of guilt is as good in this case as it is walking into a police station and saying you sell cocaine.

Is that some sort of entrapment?

Yep, cooperation and doing what they say is what I've learned too. And I always keep in the back of mind that cops can shoot and kill you for any reason they want.

And I don't mean entrapment in how he pulled me over for speeding, I mean entrapment for DUI or something...
I was being an idiot on the road with an e92 M3 hitting maybe 90 +/-.
3 cruisers pull me over and let me go after them asking me questions and figuring out WTF was I doing.
Second time, I was pulled over and told to open my hood. For being in CA, I had all sorts of illegal shit in there. I casually cooperated and he talked to me for 5 scary minutes about it pointing everywhere.
Then, ended up talking to me 15 minutes curiously with questions complimenting my shitbox.
Just cooperate is what I've learned. If you're effed, you're effed.

Cops will always ask you questions in a way for you to answer stupidly, admitting guilt.
When a cop asks how fast you were going, never admit you were speeding. Just say you were not aware how fast you were traveling or you were going the posted speed.
That way he can only tell from his judgement how fast you were traveling, or if he had a radar. NEVER ADMIT GUILT.
Cops will always try to say they smell something like alcohol or weed to try and see if they can hit you with more violations. Unless of course you actually were drinking, which then that is your fault.
