I have 4 BMWs in the family (technically...one's not much more than some metal and green paint anymore). And eventually my mom's probably going to get an X5. I'd say an e30 really isn't any more likely to be more unreliable than any other car you buy for 2300 bucks. You have to look at the cars individually and see how they've been taken care of to make that decision. If he wants an e30 he should buy one.

Reccommend my brother a car
My brother is going to be needing a car real soon and need r3v's help.
He needs a commuter car that is reliable and gets decent mileage. We have a spending limit of about $2300.
He really wants an e30, but unfortunately the parents will not allow it because they say one bmw in the family is enough.
What do you guys think?
