Demo cars....dealer salespeople weigh in pls.

Bascially there is a car I want.

It is a demo, with 2000 miles. Yes, I know all the shit about it's been beat this, yadda, yadda, whatever. Warranty. Fuck it.

MSRP is $24,550. Invoice is $22,990.

I want to get it for below invoice, around $20k....

    Feasible?

Dealer is eager to move it with the end of the year coming up. I'm not afraid of demo cars. That's what a warranty is for.

BUT, I'm not afraid to walk away and wait a year. Just if this ones price fits, I could really use a new car to replace the 330 and M3....(I'm tired of working on the cars on weekends to get to work during the week).

Ok r3v....this one is a meaningful thread (*cough*FredK*cough*).

How long do you plan on keeping this car? What kind of car is it?

Pfft. If I told you guys you'd all hate on the car and not give me what I want.

your timing is good on this- wait until the end of the month when they're even more worried about numbers/quotas. i sold a few cars under invoice in circumstances like that.

as far as "feasible"- too many variables. but if you're not afraid of owning a demo car, you certainly shouldn't be afraid of insulting a salesperson by lowballing on something he wants to move anwyay.

Basically I see it as a used car that was abused and I'm taking a gamble to help them get one more sale before the end of the year.

                  I'm doing THEM a favor. ;)

An why would I buy a Scion? You lost your mind?

I sell cars at Ford and just sold one of our demos. Depending which car company it is they should have their own financing like ford financing or toyota financing or whatever. There is typically a $1000 rebate for using them and paying a slightly higher rate. You then have to make 3-6 payments to get that rebate and then you can switch to your own financing company or just pay off the car if that is your intentions. That is of course if they have no pre payment penalty, which most car dealers have anyways. That would be my best advice. They can usually dig up another rebate or 2. Also waiting a few days more toward the end of the month can help but I wouldn't risk that.

Most of the time a demo was drivin by one of the finance ladies or HR people. At least ours were so IDK how much abuse a 60 year old lady would do
