Just curious...what exactly do "race nuts" do for you? I have "slow nuts" and they work well at the track. If there is some advantage then I'm all about it.

The standard nuts are just fine but we wanted to offer another option for those that wanted to further reduce the weight and/or going for a certain look.

Additionally, The 2pc nut allows the conical seat to spin freely so the nut will maintain constant torque when torqued down. This technology is used by Porsche in thier OEM lug bolts.

I think the only real advantage is ease of getting a wheel back on since there are studs already in place, the wheel holds in place better while putting the first couple nuts on. This way you don't have to hold the wheel up while you try to line up and thread in the first bolt.

This is a huge advantage for running studs in general. I got into this business because I cross threaded my wheel hub by incorrectly inserting my lug bolt. This resulted in having to replace the wheel hub so I could feel safe on track. It is much cheaper to replace a wheel stud than it is to replace a wheel bearing. Studs are also much stronger than bolts.

in that pic of the styl 5's is the locking nut all the way threaded and tightened? it looks kinda silly poking out further than all the other studs.

I think he was referring to the nuts by themselves, not a stud kit as a whole. i.e. what benefit are long nuts over regular nuts?

And from the answer given, the weight savings seams trivial. You will save orders of magnitude more weight by taking a crap before getting in your car than with light nuts.

Then again if you were Chuck Norris then your nuts may actually be a weight problem.

but wait! I just thought of another benefit: Long nuts lets you take your wheels on and off without an absurdly long deep socket. I dunno, are regular deep 17mm impact sockets deep enough for regular nuts on the 90mm studs?

Yep, not threaded all the way in.

For some people it matters regardless of opinion. If not the weight, then the look. The extended nut does help quite a bit if the studs are very long and without spacers.

Thank you sir. I am trying to bring about good products to our community. The aluminum nuts are cool and I have many customers that race on them but I feel that the MH Hybrid 2pc race nuts are a much better alternative.
