    My "New" E30

I just got a 1992 E30 325iC M-Tech Appearance Package and join this Forum, the E30 Drive fine but there are some problem:

    1) Drive side windows not moving up or down after half an inches of travel, I did push all the buttons and the switch is fine as well as the motor (I can hear the motor noise. Any thought?

    2) I brought the battery to Autozone and the battery is fully charge, but I didn't drive it for a week and I need to jump it to start this morning for a short ride. The guy at autozone said the battery is still good. Any comment? Bad alternator maybe?

    3) Both power side mirrors will move up and down for adjustment but not left to right, bad motor? Even up and down are on occasionally, bad motor?

    4) Where can I find the cover for the 2 square holes that is next to the amber direction indicators below the headlight? Anyone knows the part number?

    4) The speedometer only work occasionally but the mileage meter is rolling fine, anyone know how to fix it? New speedometer?

Lat but not least, where can I find an online owner's manual so that I can setup the onboard computer (for date, time...etc)

Thanks, and here is the picture:

    new car

    Looks good.
    Enjoy the new ride.
Hope you don't need an alternator.
Usually Autozone will charge the battery over night for you.

      Nice ride.
You can pic up the air ducts on craigslist or maybe find them on ebay or a junkyard as well.
As for the owners manual I think AutoZone sells one for e30'd thats not too pricey or you can check out Amazon as well.

Nice looking car, hope you enjoy it. With regard to your questions...

        1) It would be my personal opinion that something might be up with the regulators that move the windows up and down. It's not a huge deal to pop the door cards off, so try that and see if anything looks to be sticking.

        2) I don't think the battery or the alternator are the issue here, sounds like some kind of slow parasitic drain on the battery e.g. a glovebox light that won't turn off or a radio that wasn't wired correctly and doesn't turn off. I would look into the electrics like the lights in the glove box/trunk/interior and see if anything is on all the time. Check the fuses with a test light.

        3) If you hear the motors working, it might be that the teeth on their tracks have started to wear. Removing the glass is easy; just stick a flat-blade screwdriver into the slot under the glass, have a free hand on the glass itself, and slide the tab on the locking ring. The glass should just fall out.

4a) I would check realoem.com for diagrams and part numbers and see what you can find. Using the VIN will make sure it's the correct part.

4b) Not super sure about this one and not searching it out, but search the forums first for an answer to this one.

Lat) I would buy a Bentley workshop manual just as a rule, but to set up the computer for time (assuming it is a 13-button computer), stick something like a pencil into the small round button on the bottom-right corner when the screen is showing the time. Then use the 10, 100, etc. buttons to set the time. Same process for date.

        Hope this helps!
