    quick release questions

    So I bought a Nardi wheel for my e30 (1986 325es).
Thinking about a quick release. Not sure whats a good one to get.
Also do I need a hub to go along with it or is all I need to buy is the quick release?

This is probably a dumb question but I would like to know the answer instead of being informed its a dumb question!

Picture of my car as he sits right now. I have a lot of work to do!

My favorite quick release is a Snap-Off (and you'll need a hub).
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

This is all you will need to run a quick release and a Nardi wheel.

First, NRG makes pretty popular quick releases. So, in order to use one of those you are going to need an NRG hub for an E30 (http://www.getnrg.com/products/quick...t-hub/srk-e30h). Best place to buy one, i.e. cheapest, is here: (http://www.88rotors.com/interior/ste...-srk-e30h.html).

Next, you need an NRG quick release. There are a few to choose from, however you cannot use the Thin Version with the E30 hub. Here are the ones you can choose from: (http://www.getnrg.com/products/quick-release). Prices vary depending on the store so I would just do a Google search on the one you want and go from there, 88rotors also sells them if you want to keep the whole package together.

Finally, since the NRG bolt pattern in the same as the Momo pattern but different than the Nardi pattern, you need an adapter. Like this: (http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/mm...Code=WB-010038).

Hope that helps! It's a surprisingly complicated process and you also have to remember with all this added stuff behind the wheel it might stick out a bit further than stock.

There are versions that fit between the hub adapter and the wheel itself. Most will not allow the use of your horn.

I checked out a huge number of QR systems for my race car. I chose the Snap-Off by Teknik:

          http://www.amazon.com/Tekniq-Snap-Of...+quick+release

It's the only one that doesn't bring the wheel too close, has absolutely ZERO play, and still allows the use of a Momo-style horn button. It's already pre-drilled for Momo and Nardi pattern, so you don't need an adapter.

Does this affect turn signal stock or wiper stock?

I bought an nrg 2.5 quick release and e30 short hub. I had to modify the hub to allow me to retain the horn, there is no copper/brass contact ring in the hub. The quick release has no play, and everything is made from quality aluminum

I got a 3" deep wheel so the steering wheel has moved up a bit, I may space the steering column down a bit to compensate, but so far no complaints other than that.

Oh and I paid $280 for the hub, quick release and steering wheel brand new. I advise getting 2.5 over 3.0 since the only difference is the ugly looking paddles they added on the 3.0
