replacings struts, should I do strut bearings too?

I have new shocks and struts ready to swap into my e30 but am not sure whether I'm going to need to do the strut bearings. whats the story with these? do they wear out after 100,000 miles or so like struts or are they good for longer? thanks for any tips. cheers, Pat

it they clunk, and look worn out. then they are worn out. if your doing the struts you may as well do the strut mounts. the rears are more then likley worn out, as they are known for wearing out.

edit: i recomend going with somthing aftermarket to replace the rears.

I would definately do the fronts even if they arent shot unless you know they have been replaced recently. If not you have to go through pulling the strut cartridge and breaking it apart all over again. Dont forget the harware too, replace it all.

Also dont forget that little cupped washer that covers the bottom of the bearing, it messes people up often.
      Im now E30less.

or if they "feel" ok, clean them out with carb cleaner, and spray a ton of that white lith. grease crap in there, till they spin nice and free-- thats if your going on the cheap- but like ryan said, for a more "known it was done right" feeling, just replace em.
