See OP! I told you that it would work out for the best

If it worked in my situation, I'm sure it would work out for you too

Yes the pattern is fairly odd, on the window, actual deep scratches into the glass, but just scuffing on the paint right next to it...

I've washed the car by hand plenty of times to notice it if it was there before and like I said just got it back on the road the day of the wash. I would have noticed the scratches the night I was working on it or the day of at work.

There is good news though. Friday the 10th I talked to the GM in person to follow up and asked him about his video equipment. He said it was not working and told his boss about it a while ago.
This in itself shows that :
    A) They don't keep up their equipment in general
    B) They don't have evidence they didn't do any damage.

After going over the facts: that the video couldn't prove their equipment wasn't faulty, there are no maintenance records of the machines being looked at/checked/fixed, and he had no idea when the last time any maintenance was done other than "we have a guy who does maintenance", the GM changed his tune and seemed a bit more sympathetic.

Monday I called in to the carwash to follow up yet again. I talked to another manager and he said they were going to replace the glass and seal. He and the corporate office said that the original GM was going to try and buff the scuffs out of the paint but when I asked "what if the buffing doesn't work or the scuffs are too deep" they said they weren't sure if they would cover a respray of the trunk.

Funny enough, yesterday I spoke to the original GM who blatantly refused my claim and was pretty much a dick and he apologized about the whole thing and how he handled it.

All in all, progress is being made. I have the contact info for the shop they want to go through and will be doing research to see if the place is worth a damn before actually going.

I recommend anyone who has to go through crap like this to stick to your guns and follow up. People out there will make it seem like nothing can be done and you should just forget about it, though this is not always the case. Also, keep calm, I really wanted to tell the guy off the first day but that really accomplishes nothing. It was worth keeping calm about the situation.

I appreciate everyone's insight here, thank you!

This is what I was thinking. Most car wash brushes only get close to the car, so only the "brush" part touches the car. It's odd that something hard enough (metal) touched the car. I mean, scratches in the paint I can kind of see, but in GLASS?

Are you sure they weren't there and you didn't notice due to the car being dirty?
There could have been something like a work truck going through prior. Washes love to pick up mud, sand, and small metallic bits out of the back of trucks.

Something could have gotten tangled up in one of the "brushes" from another car, who knows what. I lol when I see those places call themselves "brushless", meaning that the spinning wheels they use to beat the hell out of your car are cloth instead of bristles?

Whatever, fuck those things. I'll take my daily beater through from time to time, but any car I care about the only automatic wash it sees is "touchless", or it gets washed by hand.

Those are.. Remarkably deep for a car wash.. I never knew this could happen

Luckily, I only hand wash my e30s or take it to a hand wash carwash; I try to avoid these automatic wash places like plaque

Sorry to hear, I hope you are able to get some restitution from the car wash.

The only car wash I will ever go to is a touchless wash. It doesn't use any brushes, just sprayers.

Just walk through the wash and touch the brushes. Maybe one roller is mangling all the cars.

Got a canned response from the "GM" for the place. When I asked when the last time the machines were checked and at what frequency they were checked he said he did not know but a maintenance guy checks that out.

Also he said no way did his machines do that.

Pretty interesting that without knowing anything about the maintenance of the equipment he could tell me for certain it wasn't their fault. I was given a piece of paper to fill out which would be "faxed to corporate" where he is stating he is denying the claim.

I could tell someone else has written on the same form before that due to the imprint my page had. When I asked how many times people claim these things he said he wasn't sure etc. He does not seem to get paid enough to deal with my issue and knows when not to speak about something.

So far not good. Well see what "corporate" says tomorrow.

If anyone was wondering of where the place was:

With those better pictures, I would certainly try to get them to fix it. The first just looked liked minor scuffing. It's worth a shot.

Several years ago, i worked at a car wash and accidentally srpayed concrete cleaner on the windshields and paintwork of several cars (I thought I was using bug cleaner). Had my GF go thru and I left waves in her windshield (it was dengerous to drive the thing b/c you couldn't see clearly outta it!).

The car wash had to repaint several cars and give others new windshields, etc. I wasnt' at fault as I had only been on the job for about a week and when I asked for help, the staff were asshats to me. Oh well, their costly mistake, not mine
I hope you're right. I'll know for sure by 5:30 today...

Yes. Never really knew something like this could happen. I've seen plenty of nicer or newer cars go through this place with no problem. This is a true eye opener, like I said, I usually just wash my own car but I have the flu and just didn't feel up to doing the Karate Kid routine.

I'm wondering if this happened to my car, what happened or IS happening to cars today/yesterday...

Also, my M3 does not have perfect paint. Clear isn't peeling anywhere or anything like that but it could definitely use a polish and there are a couple pings here and there from the PO. I used these guys since it needed more cleaning than the touch free could offer.
