paint job was estimated from $18/22,000

does anyone know this guy ???
    1985 318i with a 20k paint job, WTF ???
but still runing diving boards and black bumper trims !!!

    he's selling it for 5 G's ;)

    "1985 BMW 318i

This is a very loved car, I have owned it for nine years, my dad owned it for three years before me. He bought it off of the original owner, it had sat in a garage for 7 years before my dad bought it. This car has been kept in a garage its entire life.

When I bought this car I had it striped down to metal and all the dings and dents taken out, then it was primered, metalic undercoated, painted the main color, and then had 7 clear coats sprayed. The color that was painted is a Candy coat called Burple, depending on the light the color changes from Blue to black to purple, I have pictures of the whole process. When it was done the paint job was estimated from $18,000-$22,000.

The body is in perfect shape, there is one small dent on the front drivers side quarter panel, no door dings etc... , the transmission was just rebuilt, less then one thousand miles on it, a used engine was just put in about 2 months ago, when these were replaced, a TON of other parts were also replaced, including the radiator, mass air flow sensor, thermastat, etc. I have all the paper work and recipts for everything that was done. There is about 140,000 miles on the car itself, but most of the running gear was just replaced less then a thousand miles ago.

I put on 17 inch rims with low profile tires, with racing springs that lowered the car 1 3/4" in front and 2" in back. About 3 months ago I put in a new Pioneer CD/Mp3/WMA player with aux hook up (mp3 player/satalight radio etc...) and remote, there is 6 tweeters, 4 5 1/2 speakers, two ten inch sub woofers in the trunk, and two amps powering everything. There is an alarm system/keyless entry, remote start (remotes are a little warn out, but still work).

Just put on a leather stick shifter knob, and new leather boot. The interior of this car is also in perfect condition, leather all around w/ sheep skin covers on the two front seats. There is also a very nice car cover included in this sale. I have a ton more pictures, if you would like to see them, or have somthing specific that you would like to see, please let me know, thank you for your time and interest. "

werd.. besides what kinda of idiot would put 7 coats of clear on that thing. Urethane bases need about 2, 3 is usually a maximum if you want to a good color sanding. I spray premixed 4:1 clear/hardner. It is thick shit.

Laquer on the other hand requires many coats, there is at least 7 coats of guards red on my 49 chevy, and at 65 bucks a quart (back in 01), it isnt exactly cheap.
