Hey guys -

Years ago, several of you from this community ran CarFaxes for me for free. I purchased an unlimited account and would like to give back to the community.

If you're looking to buy a car or want to know your own cars history, send me a PM with the license plate and your email. I'll be more than happy to run them and email them to you.

After I close on a car I'm buying, I'll have 2 I can run for free off VIN. According to CarFax, the reports are the same whether you use license plate or VIN.

Let me know if you need them. I have an unlimited account through the end of February.

I do not have any free runs by VIN anymore. I only have free runs by license plate. If you would like me to run one for you, send over your license plate and state, along with your email address.

I sent a handful of people this in a PM. I am no longer going to send these. If you don't follow the directions, I'm not going to go out of my way to run the Car Fax, save it as a PDF, and email it to you.

Ok, so this is the first time I have seen a carfax report. I bought the car here on Oahu, schwarz 1990 325is, a couple of years ago without much info on the car. PO was an OK guy but turned out to be a little less than truthful. I didn't get any records on the car other than the top end had been rebuilt recently. I really liked the car so I dove in and have been bringing it back to good DD condition.

When I got the car in Oct 2010 it showed 53,xxx mi on a broken odometer. I recently replaced the the odomoter with a rebuilt one that had 62,xxx miles on it (required at a strict safety inspection station) . Reasonable since I don't put a lot of miles on the car and this is a small island.

Car fax history only reports mileage at random points in the cars history. Originally purchased Nov 1989 in NJ at 10 mi, titled transferred Sep 1990 in HI, next activity duplicate titled issued Apr 2004 at 7,xxx mi, titled /registration issued Sep 2004 at 53,xxx mi, title/registration issued in 2005 and 2006, next activity in Oct 2010 which is when I bought it.

I am the fourth owner, seller may have never had title because he told me he had had the car for less than a year but there is no record of a title transfer during that period. Good news is there is no bad news on the report. Is it normal for there to be so many gaps in the mileage?
