Dodge had such a great idea going on looking to appeal to the "motorist" in the past years with the offering of boosted OEM cars..

Neon SRT/4, Caliber SRT, and even a PT Cruiser Turbo...ever see a PT Cruise run a high 11's at the track?

I have and it's still headscratcher...

Chrysler needs to maintain that streamline offering, and would of knocked the sales out of the park with a RWD/AWD platform with some sort of F/I...keep it under 20K and it would of beat the Cruze hands down.

those cars were fast but they were also 3 of the most horrible cars ever made. being fast isn't good enough to sell millions of cars because most people want to buy a throw away Toyota that just works.

And they're already hashing out the details for the r/t dart, which will be much more powerful, and for everyone complaining about the FWD nature, the SRT which is also on it's way is destined to be AWD and turbo charged, and they're shooting for 325 hp. Their aim is a vehicle in the sti/evo/etc arena.

Fuck anything with a sideways engine up front that isn't an old Mini.

Want to do something different? Go RWD and make a fun car, again, like the BRZ/FR-S. Those things are flying off the lots and need some competition.

The bit about them not marketing correctly is spot on, I've seen dozens of dart commercials and am still not really sure what it looks like, not the out side, not the interior, not the engine bay, the trunk etc. On par with some of the for sale adds on r3v.

ive driven a fiat 500 even with a little over 100hp its still fun and you can rev the balls off of it and still not do anything illegal , the dart I've sat in at the LA auto show, was a little too big for my taste but ill go test drive it to see how it goes but i do agree under 200hp for a hot small car is pretty weak

remember it was intentionally build to sell very cheap. Maybe do to the economy. But its a nice car for the parent looking for a car for their college student. Just like the civic was made for.

They made it simple for the average to afford.
