Reminiscing: Stupid Things you did to/with your Car when You were Young

16 years old, first rain of the year in my 70 MGB-GT. Left turn onto another street, tried a Scandinavian flick at ~25mph, all I got was understeer, straight into the curb.
Then there was the time Josh (Hugo Stiglitz) and I tried to "open" his sealed beam headlights to install a pair of Silvania Silverstar bulbs.
Good times, good times.

17-18 yrs old, a gang of friends and I decided to go cruise Ventura Blvd and hit up a ice cream sandwich shop by UCLA. All goes well until the cruise back down Ventura and decided to turn off and take a different route since it was getting a little hot with attention. Get a couple blocks away from the strip, empty straight away, & built cars = race.
Line up:
Built B-series
Integra DC2/EK Hatch
Boosted GC8 2.5 RS subbi-roo
SE-R Senta
I held back since my little m10 and my friends single cam hatch had no hope. Everyones pumped waiting for the light to change when I notice a black and white pull up behind. At this point im the only one that noticed & time is running out. Look over to the homie in the next lane and signal 5-0 and we both panic. No idea what to do I flash my highs in distress to no avail.
Green means go everyone takes off. I rolled at 5mph holding the cop back, until he noticed there was a gang of cars draggin right in front of him. He blows me off cuts into the oncoming lane and trys to catch up to everyone. Everyone hits the brakes he cuts off the leader(Integra), everyone else cuts around the cop and bones out.
Only one friend got popped for speeding. Didnt get anyone else so no cars were crushed for street racing. If I remember correctly he got up to 120+ and the cop popped him for 80 in a 35.
-Same Integra popped in the Canyons a while later. I was close behind when I see 5-0 bust out of the trees Duke's style with rooster tails shooting out of the brush.
-When ever it was a bit wet late at night empty streets would clutch kick every 4 lane intersection = many spin outs.
-Hit 120 down a loooong hill in the m10. Scariest moment of my life.
-Cig lighter = Start button
-Got my solid rotors to glow red.
-Summer after High School spent 3-5days a week in the canyons with girls screaming in my ear almost dying multiple times.
-Almost flipped the Range Rover wondering how fast I could take a 45degree turn. Rolled in at 50mph smooth turn felt the wheels lift, came out the other side near heart attack.
-Improv rally in the Palmdale back roads.
-Drove 2hrs in LA traffic, busted fan clutch in summer. Heater full blast with black leather interior.Last edited by E30_Pare; 10-13-2013, 02:22 AM.

Traded my almost paid-off Acura TL in at the dealer for way less than it was worth to buy a Mini Cooper S Convertible.
I loved that TL but wanted a little better gas mileage and a smaller car. Stupid stupid decision, I wasted a lot of money on the trade by not negotiating and even more in owning the Mini.
Edit: If we're going for really stupid things when we were young, I thought it would be cool to quit paying insurance on my Mustang. Tag and license got revoked, stole a plate from a church bus that was parked near the place I lived. Got pulled again for taking a corner too fast and smacking a curb when the rear end let go, cop thought it was a stolen vehicle so I got cuffed and taken downtown. Didn't end up getting charged for the stolen plate but had my license revoked for a year and paid out the ass in lawyer fees.
Did have an awfully good time driving my scooter around though. Something about two wheels and the open air was nice. Then some bitch pulled out in front of me while I was doing 50 and I had to eat asphalt, the thing fell on me, tore my ACL and burnt the shit out of my leg. It never ran right after that and I'm forever ruined to motorcycles.Last edited by ncsubowen; 12-04-2013, 01:43 PM.sigpic

Blew up my first engine when I was 16, 100hp wet shot of nitrous after the throttle body, on a 95 Grand Prix. grenaded the last 2 cylinders.
Also made painted the interior white, I am so ashamed. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

Found this old video, proud of the engine I built at a young age, but I traded this car in on my VW after I completed the build. I got frustrated with trans problems and gave up. Took a huge loss on it.
Best sounding 4 cylinder I've played with yet. Fully forged and balanced Ecotec 2.2 with a vortech supercharger and nitrous when all was said and done.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

Not sure I'm old enough to be here yet...but a few years ago I doubled a fair amount of speed limits on some side roads to impress a couple girls in my 2002. Good times.
Oh, not sure if this counts as stupid but I took the 2002 to Lime Rock for the Vintage Festival and the alternator went bad so I had a battery light when I started it at the track. For the entire 50-minute drive home--to save battery power--I would turn on the headlights, rush up behind someone, then shut the headlights off and use theirs to guide me until they turned off the road. Headlights back on, find the next guy up the road, repeat...Last edited by ELVA164; 03-06-2015, 08:46 PM.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one?
