Dumbest things you've heard people say about/seen people do to their cars

I remember a thread like this on the forum I was on when I had my Spec V. I haven't seen anything like it on r3v, so if there is already one point me to it.

I had a friend who was convinced his Jetta had a v4 in it. Even after I asked if he meant I4...

Another friend kept trying to pop the clutch with the car in neutral after he left his lights on. After 2 unsuccessful tries, I made him push instead.

I told the guy at Autozone I needed some ATF because I had a leaky power steering line. He tried to get me to buy power steering fluid for 5 minutes before I went and showed him where the cap said "ATF OIL ONLY" on it. He said he had never heard of using ATF for power steering.

Overheard a guy talking about how he had a button that gave his truck like 50 extra hp. Someone asked what the button was and he said it was the one on the gear selector stalk. (Overdrive button )

I know some of you guys have gotta have some good stories. Let's hear them!

Hahahah, the 'prepare to be pissed off' thread. My friend was completely convinced that most newer cars have V8's. he even told me that a buddy's CRV had a v8. The friend went on to correct him that it has a V4...god dammit. I'm sure ill think of more later.

I don't think I have enought time to show all of my dislikes but ill make it short . My dislikes are.... Every vw from 90 to present, rusted hoods, stickers that state to be "hella fresh" "yolo" "classy" or any stickers in general, queer colored wheels, stretched tires, air suspension, roof racks, over abundance or plaid lumber jack looking material, small pine trees and other mc Donald's toys attached to the rear tow hook, front plate relocated to drag on the ground, and spray painted tail lights black in color

My buddy was looking for a new car and we test drove a C30 Volvo T5 hatchback. Lot guy told him(while me in the car) that is has a 2.5 i6 turbo D haha. I told him he was flat out wrong and he got upset. Told me this is his job and I have no clue...when we got back I popped the hood and told him to count the spark plugs(first clue that is is not a diesel).

First off this is one of my favorite hatches. They never came in a i6 only i4/5...it says T5 on the boot. Also a petrol T does not sound anything like a T diesel(or use spark plugs HAHAHA).

I went in and told the manager how rude he was to me and how ignorant he is. Said they do a better job at hiring someone to sell cars. Told him that he could not figure out where the spark plugs were or the difference from petrol to diesel.

Guy got chewed out badly after we walked out. My buddy came with 30k in his checking for a newish used car to replace is old GTP. We made sure to let the manager know that his lot guy is the reason we are no longer looking to buy the C30.(ended up snagging a MINT MK6 Gti, amazing to drive)

Last story:

Went to a local meet that has a bunch of hondas/euro and shit. Some kid had a fake mounted turbo on his civic with huge subwoofers and neon EVERYWHERE with chopped stock springs on donuts or whatever.

Even took a stock DME and put a AEM management sticker on it. wires were taped to the underside of the fender where he drilled a hole ;)

He was talking about how he will bust 500hp on the dyno and shit. I tore into him like a fat kid does cake. He did the normal lie and shit to cover up. But an unmounted turbo with fake management needed some attention haha.

He ended up getting pissed and telling me he was mocking shit up lol. He now has one of those fake turbo things in his tail pipe. Guess the dyno tune went well.

Only meet I have gone to and the last one I will ever go to. I did get invited to the local hot rod meet, I am sure that will be much better.

My favorite is "suspension centering joint". I love getting my non car-friends with that when I look at their cars, then tell them I'm fucking with them.

I do have a love for imports but there is such a shitty culture. The fat tail pipes, the wings on front wheel drive cars ._. "lets buy some bright colored spray paint and 'accessorize' the car.. mirrors, wiper blades, front lips, basically whatever they want." I just hate it, like i it really makes me not want a JDM vehicle. I'd vent more but hendrixvodu sumed it up.

why you like C30 so much? it's not nearly as nice as the GTI or VW R equivalent

It has a hate it of love it look. I personally think it is amazing looking. Granted the R is AMAZING to drive and also very pleasing to the eye.

The C30 handles very well, blast straights and corners super easy. I LOVE the interior; modern, edgy with a bit of flare.

I would love to lower one on some nice splits with a tune and exhaust to match. The i5 petrol turbo is peppy and a blast to drive. There is so much more to that engine with tuning etc.

It is just personally pleasing to the eye. I would not take a GTI over it, but an R model hands down YES! The R model is my current favorite hot hatch. Must be a white 4 door.

He has had it for a bit now, took it to SCCA last year and just had a blast. His old car was a fat Pontiac GTP(stupid heavy). He sold it and had me help him search for a car. Had to be AWD or FWD, Auto was a MUST because of his Wife. That was it, he was sad that he had to get Auto. But the flappy paddle makes him smile.
