Did anyone attended the USGP at Austin?
I'm looking into going and watching flight prices. I'm in PA so it's a bit of a journey, but I really want to feel the V8s in person before the era is over.
Right now there is a $300 itinerary from Friday early AM with a departure at 3:45pm out of Austin. Even if I skip the podium ceremony, which would be a bummer, I feel that this is cutting it much too close with the inevitable exodus from COTA. But the airport is 15 minutes away... on a normal day. I'm not even sure how we would get to the airport in the madness - a taxi or shuttle perhaps?
After that flight, prices go up $200+. Monday morning flights are predicted to drop (I use Bing, which is successful with their predictions, combined with ITA matrix to research flights) and I suppose that is the other option. It requires another vacation day but would provide some rest from the weekend.
Any suggestions, thoughts? I'd go general admission, and I have a place to stay in Austin covered.Leave a comment:

I was surprised, although I guess I shouldn't have been given that Allison left to Ferrari earlier in the year.
I'm sure FAlonso is not going to be happy about this. Lord knows he couldn't handle a rookie who could match his pace, what's he going to do with a World Champion?
Next year should be interesting.Leave a comment:

Can't believe no ones posted the news yet... Maybe Massa will go to Lotus, lol!

The bigger question to me is who replaces kimi at lotus.... Im sure he brought in a fair amount of sponsorship $$$$ I mean who doesnt want their name on the ice mans car. I would say hulkenberg but lotus almost need a pay driver from what it sounds like with them not paying staff on time.
I am waiting for buttons name to be floated around but his name hasn't come up at all this season. He must know McLaren will be in better form next year.Last edited by naplesE30; 09-10-2013, 02:12 PM.Leave a comment:

Well guess we know who won't be driving for Ferrari in '14. Don't think Alo will be too pleased about loosing his 'little helper' as he's been as of late.
It's been interesting seeing all the different rumors and news media scrambling to predict what's going to happen so if they're right they can claim having reported it first.Leave a comment:

I dont see their being the friction at ferrari that there was at Mc Laren with Alonso. Both drivers are world champions and will in all likelyhood keep tp themselves. It will be interesting to see how the team functions as far as sharring info on setup etc. Would love see KR outperform Alonso and how he would react to being told to be the supporting driver.Leave a comment:

Kimi wants a more competitive car, but Ferarri wants a #2 driver to push their golden boy Alonso to another championship. I don't see Raikkonen liking that.
I also find it funny how many 'news' outlets are reporting done deals despite any official word from teams.Leave a comment:

If I were luca, I'd pick Hulk, but I'd like to see kimi back in red.Leave a comment:

I've heard more and more about that happening, I'm not for it, but if Lotus can't deliver what Kimi wants, then he has to do what's best for him to win another WDC.Leave a comment:

I would rather see FM driving LMP1 or something of the like than sign at a midfield F1 team if he is ousted. Always liked Phil.Leave a comment:

So I missed the race, I know who won, I still want to see it. I don't have cable, is there any place to safely and reliably acquire the video?Leave a comment:

Sadly a vettel redbull win and a strong merc showing would probably be the end of development for this years cars I would think. It would pretty much cement the constructors and drivers championships and make for a rather boring rest of the year. Unless you like constructors battling it out for 3rd and 4th prize money. Here's is to q2 not being representative of qualifying.Leave a comment:

^ We shall see,,, the redbulls have been quicker this year in straight line speed then I can ever remember. In past years the merc would have walked away from vettel on the kamel straight even with vettels speed through eau rouge. Ferarri should be strong as well as force india traditionaly.Leave a comment:
