Should the next M3 have a i6

At first, and second, I nearly hurled at the thought of a v6 turbo, but as long as it winds out hard, what really matters is lightness.
How about a screaming 4 turbo in the 1?
With the relentless fatness growth they will need a .5 series soon.Leave a comment:

BMW M is known for amazing high revving, high output per liter, naturally aspirated inline 6s. I don't think the m3 should have ever left the i6. Now I can understand if they need to go turbo because of efficiency and it's the way of the future and all that now but at least keep the i6 configuration, that's something that more importantly sets bmw apart from other manufacturers, not to mention the advantages of the i6 configuration over others.Leave a comment:

All you need to keep complaining about the E92 V8 so i can get one for cheaps. I love the V8 M3.Leave a comment:

i love my v8 although for a daily driver it's not practical. But on the track that's when you appreciate the high revving NA motor and sound imo. I'll miss the V8 but I'm sure that the BMW guys know what they are doing and the next generation will probably be just as good if not better.Leave a comment:

I wanted it to be another V8 but since emissions are strangling everyone, the i6 makes more sense.Leave a comment:

Car and Driver already released saying something it would be a twin-turbo I6 making 450hp and weigh around 3300lbs (around 3700 now) through the use of CF and other composites.Leave a comment:

I thought it was accepted that the new M3/4 is gonna be an FI I6...
Meh... I honestly kind of like the V8 in the E9x M3 given what the car has become, it's fitting. I wouldn't mind owning one outfitted with a supercharger...Leave a comment:

I am at the training facility in NJ right now and i was told that bmw is doing that for advertisement or some dumb crap like that as to make the bmw line look a lot larger by adding the 2, and 4 series. Personally i think its stupid. although the E70 X5 M is really nice as well as the F12 M6, but yet again price is way up there too.Leave a comment:

The M3 should be designed around the racing class it will be campaigned in. Designed to win.
Just like the original. Anything less will be a poseur.Leave a comment:

This is counterintuitive. If they simply MUST shuffle around the series, all 2dr should all be a new 2 Series, all hatchbacks are 3 series and four doors are 4 series. No M3 should have 4 doors in my opinion and if its does, it should have the M5 engine. So the only M cars you have are the M2 (old M3) and M4 (old M5). The 5 series all have to be stupid GTs (four doors plus hatch makes 5), 6 series should never have come back, and SUVs should NEVER be M badged. That leaves us with 2 M cars which should be really hardcore NA straight 6 for the M2 and NA V8 or V10 for the M4.What ive heard is that bmw is thinking they are going to be using an inline 6 for their next motorsport car. heres the thing, the new motorsport 3 series to be released is the 4 door. like the F30 body style using the M3 badge... thats becauses the 3 series will only be a four door, and the two door will be the new 4 series...and the motorsport version of the two door F30 will be wearing the M4 badge..
There, got that out. If only anyone at BMW cared what I think :(
Also, I agree about the throwback. If they came out with a e30 M3 tribute model identical inside and out except with a modern NA 4 banger, modern suspension and weighing around 2,500lb, they would sell out before it was available.Leave a comment:
