    320i

While my 89 325i is at the body shop getting a dent fixed were my dad hit me, i am driving my brothers 1982 320i. I just want to say how even a 22 year old bmw with over 300,000 miles on it still can stomp a civic. well not stomp but slowly pull away from. hehe it looks like crap but i am falling inlove with that car, she stilll purrs.

Wait till you remove the rear seats and panels, cut the AC belt and remove the condensor, and take EVERYTHING out of the trunk. Oh, and don't forget to remove the front bumper and all of it's supports. They really start to move then. Of course the head work mine has got probably doesn't hurt much either. I know that sounds a bit extreme (esp the bumper), but since mine is SUPPOSE to be a autoX rat I really didn't care. The old M10's don't make much power, but then again it doesn't take THAT much power to move a light little car. No tar and other such ballast material like the e30 6 cylinder cars.

Here's a pic of mine. "She don't look like much, but she's got it where it counts."

SOMEBODY messed with my sig so now you get this one:

an e21 was my second car...

e21's were kinda an awkward year between 2002's and e30 - well at least the US versions.

Bumpers are too heavy for the car - suspention(stock) is way too soft and only gets worse with age - the dash had that funky 70's look to it(not classic like a 2002 - or timeless like a e30)

Also, first gear is aquward at best - you really have to rev the motor and then you're only going like 10 MPG - it's a real granny gear - good for slow traffic, and insane hills though(lots of fun in San Fransisco!)

I'd have to say it's proably one of the worst BMW's that BMW ever made...

What does all that mean? - Oh yea, it's still one hell of a car!

IMHO - It's more 'fun' to drive than an e36...

my buddy used to have an old 320i automatic, and man that thing was slow, but it was so much fun to drive. Now he's got a e36 M3. Big step up huh

I use to have a Mint 82 '320i. I really loved it even though it was underpowered. I love the way the look with a set of euro bumpers and some Alpinas. If you are interested in the e21 go to www.bimmerboys.com they put an m42 in a e21 and it looks great.

                  I would make a stealth e21.
lighten everything, swap to a strong m42 or something, and paint everything black. black rims, black paint, black tint, black exhaust tips, black valve cover, black intake manifold...

                    or a turbo m10 e21
yeah nic's car (the m42 powered e21 on bimmerboys.com) is freakin amazing. i got a chance to ride shotgun at the last autox in tucson w/ him, and the coilovers with the m42 & lightweight e21 body make that thing handle awesome....currently, it's just a tad less quick as his buddy's modded e30 m3. and he still has a lot of major mods planned

but yeah, back on topic....get rid of the US-spec 'battering ram' bumpers (slap on some euro bumpers) & get rid of the infamous e21 body roll, and these cars are fun as hell to drive around & easy to get the ass out (even w/ a stock little m10 motor) :D
