Empty Space Where The Battery Used To Be

You know that spot under the hood where your battery used to be (if you don't drive a vert)? The battery shelf? Does anyone do anything cool with that space?

I've been thinking of putting a little toolbox right there and keeping my oil, funnel and screwdrivers in it. Anyone done that? Got any pics? This is the spot I'm talking about:

You could relocate either the washer bottle tank or the coolant overflow tank there. For the washer bottle I think it's the 324td one that fits there and for the coolant overflow theres a bmw one from some other model that fits there.

      Nice clean engine bay!

That turned out to be a perfect spot on my race car for a 6-pole fuse block and the 6-channel A/D adapter for my digital dash. I've seen other folks mount a catch can for the oil breather there.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The washer bottle is an ix one. The M3 uses a coolant res back there. Wouldn't you have to reroute all of your coolant lines to relocate the overflow bottle there? Seems like a lot more work than it's worth.

You also have to extend the harness for the washer bottle pump. Only reason why I didn't do it. Seemed like more trouble than it was worth. And it is a nice place to set tools haha...

Use that spot for my wasted spark setup.

I like op's idea, I would weld some little walls on other and a top with a lock and hinge.

It usually holds my tools for when I'm wrenching away
I wouldn't want to put anything there; it's a good workspace, and I have plenty of space in the trunk compartments for an extra quart of oil/misc stuff

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that only two wires a hose for the fluid? Asking because I'd like to do this.

Last month, I used it like a step to climb into engineless cars... Almost like it was designed for the use.

It's just bare in mine since I deleted most everything in the engine bay, but I'd love to getting around to cutting it out if my 3.0L plans pan out.
