2002 in TD ameritrade commercial

Was wondering if anyone else spotted the gulf yellow 2002 in the new TD ameritrade financial storytelling commercial. Its the one that starts out with the guy having triplets. Also can anyone identify what they used for the front end, its not bmw by any means but it leaves me curious as to what the slapped onto the front. They do give it away thats a bmw by leaving the good ol bottlecap on in the rear even though they used some random steelie in the front.

looks like a civic or accord front end - early 80's.

probably just to change the look of the car enough to not have to pay BMW royalties for using it... lol
