I was never too much of a car guy.. It was usually a point A to point B. Had a galant that I enjoyed and tried to take care of that was as almost as old as me. But for the past few years of life growing up and having older friends involved with cars I've grown to appreciate cars more. I noticed I was originally more into American muscle, like a Chevelle, you know, yea whatever haha.. Used to talk to about them with my father often but in the end it always came down to the model having class.. My friends family had an e30 and I always thought wow, it's beat up buts it's nice (hahaha yea yea) .. Anyways talked to a friend and colleague that is often on topic of cars while I was thinking of buying a car. And boom, I remembered thinking how much I liked e30s.. Friends and family gave me crap about buying a car as old as me, and wanted me to get a new one but.. End of the day, I'm blessed i got the car I wanted and I'm happier cruising down the highway ...although Hondas rev at me for a mile (what the heck, just trying to change lanes lol) but soon will be posting more when I get my new wheels on and personalize it more. 👍

Like many other people, my dad had many other old BMW's, a '72 Bavaria, '86 635CSI, and an '86 735iL. I wasn't really into E30's until about 1.5 years ago when I was looking for something to replace my MK2 with and I drove past this on my way into work one morning. He was asking 35k and I thought that was insane (because I didn't know the market for these cars at the time) and from there, I got an '89 325is, got on r3v and was hooked instantly. So I guess technically, this is the car that started my E30 path.

My dad has had a number of oldies. An e24 he got rid of in 2002 , bronzit 633csi , he had a shop work on it and they f*cked it up more. He used to have an early 318i . I guess out of all the iapanese cars and euro's i couldve picked, the e30 seemed like a great start into builds. Makes a good companion to my 6mt fit lol

Haven't been on the forums in ages. Had to make a new username and what not. Fun thread. Felt compelled to throw in some of my old old cars. My father went and bought a 88 325e for my first actual car. Before that I wrecked his 77 datsun and got his 88 camry stolen due to not locking doors. Love you dad... but I did pay you back and then some! Funny to think about. Always liked the E30 box curves though!

Lived in Germany throughout my child hood.....always thought e30s were pimp. Finally bought one at age 29. Now have owned 3 to this point. At 36, I think I have had my fun and might be ready to move on.

in the 70's i was a MGB nut 1800cc push rod OHV motor dual SU's.
Then my buddy bought a BMW 1600 4 door. that thing was ugly but ran and handled.
fast forward. Up in the Northwest had several 2002 auto crossed them then got a nice e21 with a zender body kit. then the wife and I fell in love with a nice E30 vert.
But truth is i have a soft spot for German cars. several GTI's jetta, a Audi 5000 wagon (non turbo dang it) its like i can not stand to see them broke down in someones yard.

My dad had a ford granada (not sure if you had them in the states) Then one morning he went out and returned with this bad boy:

From that moment on I was in love with this machine!
I loved everything about it from the howl the engine made to the all famous "E30 smell" (which funny enough EVERY E30 I've been in since still smells the same! :D )

He sold it many years later and eventually bought another which was a baur convertible..

My uncle in Cyprus had spoke to my dad and decided he needed an E30 in his life too and bought a 325i Sport:

As you can see E30's were in my blood and soul from a young age..and from the day I sat in that black and chrome beauty I knew I would one day own one!

Its all in my project thread peeps..check it out if your bored

I always liked BMWs, When I was younger (8 or so) I fell in love with the e39 M5.. Then years later (when I was 16) one of my buddys owned a a e39 540i sport, witch continued my want for a M5 (but my price range said otherwise, I couldn't afford a $20,000 car). From there I was set I had to have a BMW.. looked online for months found the perfect BMW $3,500 (86' e30 325es with a m20b25 turbo holset hx35 at 15psi.. 18psi now). Then I decided I would rather pay off my daily driver before buying a "project car"... so I passed it up, about 4-5 months later (with the dd payed off) I started looking again, but I couldn't find anything I liked and was upset I didn't buy that e30. I looked at 240's and other stuff just couldn't find a car like that one e30 nothing compared. About a month of looking a see a e30 for $2,000 it was THE E30!! That I wished I would have bought called the guy and set out for the 14 hour trip. Bought the e30 for$1,600 and $20,000 now sunk into it haven't thought twice about it. ONE of the best decisions of my life! love that car

My parents bought me a red convertable e30 when I was 3, it was a electric one (like the power wheels) my mom said she paid almost $300 (back in early 90's) and I saw the picture of me in it a while abck when I was about 10 and always loved the e30. Always save pictures of nice ones on my computers, well I have a soft spot for e30's and evo's, then last year my buddy said he was selling his 91 318i(s) because he didn't have a job and it was sitting for a few months (started up every other day though) so I bought a 91 318 for the grand total of $1500 :) It came lowered on H&R Springs, Bilstien sport struts, 4.10 lsd, stage 1 clutch, TRM c1m rims, drilled rotors, hawk hp pads, sub/amp/alpine stero, so i'd say it was a great deal :)
I love this car and love how it drives, looks and even smells, and the attention from other peopple and the respect from other BMW owners and a lot of other drivers (I got a hang loose gesture from a pretty nice NSX on the freeway and even a silver GTR)

I was looking for a less powerful race car for autocross, and came across an 84 318 for $350. So far I replaced vacuum lines, switched the ignition wire on the starter and it fired right up. of course, the idle issue will constantly haunt me. Now I find myself on the lookout for another one for regular driving

I was a honda guy in the day. Never modded, because if money.. An age.
Got my first car when I was 15 which was a very clean 00 civic. Of course lowered it and threw a exhaust. With some wheels. And I hated the rice exhausts.. So I decided to get a vibrant sleeper muffler. It was still to much for how slow the car was.
    After that got a prelude...

At this time my neighbor had an e30 sedan. Lowered a body kit. Beyren mesh wheels. I feel in love with the car because he was working on it daily. So I was always over there. He kept nagging me to get out of honda and get myself a real car. The e30.
Decided to listen to him... Sold the prelude and when on a trip in his boosted sedan to pick mine up. Well I ended up getting that one.. Fixed it up with his help.. Got me to understand mechanics more....

Over all I'm on my second one.. And this one I think ima keep. I love these cars.. It's not like the new "shit".
