    The Itch Is Back

If you came in for VD discussion then you will be disappointed. The one thing I hate about R3V is how much it sways me to do things. I partly blame myself for this because even after selling my e30 I stuck around for the content of this community. Unfortunatley after looking at some of your project threads and ride pictures I have the e30 itch again. Such as now...I want a bike (preferably a motard). HOWEVER...and I say f'''' all you R3Ver's for this, I have the itch to get another e30 instead. So I'm at a dilemma. Get a bike that I can commute to work, save some money on gas and insurance, have fun on weekends...or get another e30, since I sold my last one about 5 months back, and be broke all the time and have a 23+ year old car that has a lot of "soul" to it.

    Once again...f"" you R3V.

    So e30...

Possibly in this state for months or even years...

Or this...which I can afford in full now...

Easy solution...buy both. That red E30 can't possibly cost more than $1000. You can ride your bike to work and dream about fixing up your E30. What more can you ask?

honest answer; i'm getting rid of my bikes because people in cars are fucking scary when you're on one. just takes one dumbfuck doing a no-look lane change and you're hospitalized or worse, and i don't want to buy a tow vehicle just to track a couple times a year.

since you're in AZ your situation is a bit different- get a dirtbike and play in the desert if you want to have fun on two wheels. that plus the e30 i would do, in your position.

If you don't have another car don't get a motorcycle. It's dangerous commuting every day on a motorcycle.

I don't see why you can't do the both. I'm not sure how much that bike costs as I only ride sport/race bikes but it can't be expensive.

I sold my e30 for a more reliable car (99 Nissan). At the time I was working for about 8 an hour and the maintenance + my bills were killing me. Currently I'm doubled that with overtime so I'm looking to have a toy on the side. I'll most likely keep the Nissan until I'm 100% confident in the e30 because the last one was a PILE O' SHIT and somewhat ruined my lack of paranoia for older cars.

Well shit. I've had my 1986 318i for well over 7 months now and it seems really reliable to me. The M10B18 engine is bulletproof man. In a way, older is more reliable.

Well what happened was the PO had bottomed the car out at one point and damaged some of the suspension, and if someone knows anything about e30's, they'll know one of the major downsides to e30's is the fact that the rear is non adjustable. So the damage to the alignment was shredding the rear tires. Because the rear was non adjustable I couldn't do anything to offset the toe on it which was pretty much dragging the tires. I believe I was going through a set of rear tires every 3 weeks or so. On the budget I was on I couldn't save up enough money to fix the problem, by the time I did have enough...well it was time to get new tires and that money was gone. But consider lesson learned and if I do get another e30 which is more than likely, I know what to look for.

Get e30, cut the roof off, take off 2 wheels, take out backseat, put passenger seat in the back, Boom e30bike.

Get the bike. Get something you can enjoy and have fun on this summer. Get a car and wrench on it in the winter. Boom done! Supermoto!
