Because the oil system sends oil into the area between the bearing and journal.
Basically, take a ball bearing and replace the balls with oil. There is no contact between your rotating assembly and the bearings around it. This is why cold start causes most wear, because until the oil gets pumped into the bearings, you will have metal/metal contact.
Another reason why you should NEVER rev and engine on start up. Wait until the oil light goes out at least.Leave a comment:
