here are some numbers, just by model year (approximate - using Sept. production as the breakpoint for the next year)

    1988: 1715
    1989: 2797
    1990: 977
    1991: 857

    Total: 6346

    Total manuals: 3446
    Total 2-doors: 2864
    Total 2-door, manuals: 2095

    These are just US #s.

if you tell me your production date & serial # I can tell you how many other cars were made exactly like yours that month (other than color, I don't have any information on that)

Better question is how many (yrs) is my 1990 IX made up of....I think I have more 88 parts in this thing than anything...with a couple regular e30 coupe fenders

I found this info not sure if its correct. I own (2) 1988 325ix's 2d manuals myself. I've never seen or heard of a 92 or 93, unicorns? supplied by the Alan Alfano, Ix guru.

    Total US E30 325iX sales:
    1987: 297
    1988: 310
    1989: 844
    1990: 699
    1991: 454
    1992: 41
    1993: 2
    Total: 2,647 (29,589 worldwide)

I also found this info that was supposedly supplied by bmw na.

    1988 model year:
    1081 Automatic 2 doors produced, 56 manual
    233 Automatic 4 doors produced, 77 manual

    1989 model year:
    356 Auto. 2dr., 230 manual
    844 Auto. 4dr., 256 manual

    1990 model year:
    55 Auto. 2dr., 69 manual
    130 Auto. 4dr., 182 manual

    1991 model year:
    0 Auto. 2dr., 3 manual
    4 Auto. 4dr., 6 manual

it's broken down by production month, but not by model year. you can guess at model year by using september as the 1st month for the next model year, which is typical.

I think they were actually. I have never seen an 88 that wasnt a 2door 5 speed.
