    The Roundel Reunion

Hey guys, so I'm pretty sure most people have heard of Southern Worthersee that takes place in Helen Georgia each year. It's been growing quickly and has become my go-to event of the year. It is coming up in May, but what many people don't know yet is that the same amazing group of people that put it together have also put together a BMW event for this year. It is called The Roundel Reunion, and while the details are still in the planning process, I'm sure it will be an amazing event. This is just an attempt to get a little information out there about the event.
It will also be held in Helen, GA and the dates are set for September 6-8. They have some pretty big sponsorships in the works, as well as Forge Motorsport as the title sponsor. There is a Facebook page that has been made and if you're interested you should give it a like!

How does one go about getting information outside of Facebook?

I'm glad this is taking place in September. I'm definitely down to go. Pretty pumped.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

September works better for me as SoWo is too close to The Vintage event.

Is this still happening? There doesn't seem to be much in the way of details or promotion for it being two months out.

Thanks for the link. After hearing about the post-event discussions following SoWo I was afraid this would happen.

I'm not on Facebook at all, though it was a topic of discussion on my local Euro enthusiast forum (which is mostly comprised of VW guys). Apparently the city of Helen decided SoWo was getting too big and wanted the organizers to pony up for additional LEOs and maintenance/cleanup.

Info and quotes from forum members reposted from that thread:

SoWo organizers at a Helen city council meeting:

If you watched the entire video you would see that one of the towns own business owners said it, and said it best. "I employ 20 extra staff members on friday night and 10 extra staff members on saturday night." "This is the cost of doing business, all these expenses come out of my own pocket and you will never hear me complain because this is the cost of doing business." With one of the towns own business owners making such a statement it is very apparent that the cost that he expels for these staff members comes back twice fold.

On another note, Chris mentioned that in the beginning he promised them this show would grow to the size it is now and they more than welcoming for it.
I understand where [Chris is] coming from on not paying anymore. He's put in a TON of work over seven years and not paid himself and at the same time brought HUGE revenue to a small town. I think people are making too big a deal out of this. I don't see it ever happening that they say no more to Sowo and all that revenue ever. More GSP and cracking down on jackasses? Probably
The problem is the city of Helen doesn't want to foot the bill for additional resources like police and maintenance crews just for our show. They want the organizers to bear these additional costs and Matt and Chris have simply said they can't. They both put a lot of their own money into putting on the show and of course money from sponsors/vendors goes a long way, but the fact is the city is drawing in a ton of money via tax revenue and they are just unwilling to spend it.

Again it goes back to what the business owner said...it's the cost of doing business.

                            Seems short sighted.
