    Question about heated Vaders...

I have Vaders in my E30. They are manual and heated. I never hooked the heat up, but am now considering it.

First, what plug is it? The driver side has a small three wire plug and a larger + shaped plug. Which plug controls the heat?

Does anyone know the wire color functions?

Where are the stock heated seat buttons located? Any pics?

Finally, are the heated Vaders strictly HEAT, NO HEAT, or is the heat adjustable like in the new E46's?

    Thanks

my guess would be whichever one has a thicker wire on it, as it is a heating element.

the stock heated seat buttons are located on the ebrake/middle console on the raised part in front, IIRC the e36 that i rode in had on/off heated seats.

note the buttons between the seats

there are in the center console, just to the right of the e-brake.

eluke- like previously mentioned, they sit right next to the ebrake. if you take the center console out and look at it from the underside you can see the areas to "punch out"

anyway, from when I was looking into it, it's the 3-wire combo with the plug on it.

Eric you live in Tempe correct? Why would you want heated seats down there?

E30's are Hi and Lo... E36 are the same High heat, low heat.

              Best of luck

How difficult do you think this would be to wire up? If it is only 3 wires there is obviously power, ground, and singal.

                  1. Where would I get the signal from?
                  2. If the seats are two stage heat, how does it decifer from the signal? The switch?

I transferred my stock heated sport seats from my old 325iS into the eta.

I have the two stage heaters and I remember having to connect two wires for supplying -ve and +ve current. Make sure you have the right wires coming into the switches. The switch dictates the flow of current hence the bunch of wires going out of it to the seats..

In order to use the factory fuse for powering your circuit:
                    -Remove your knee bolster.
-To the left of your clutch pedal around "10-o'clock" you will see a power block.
-Locate the second pin from the right in the top most corner.
                    -Insert a 15amp Fuse in fuse slot # 16
-This pin should have a positive voltage that you SHOULD verify with the fuse in and out.
-Proceed to tap into the prong with an appropriate connector
-The rest is pretty much self explanatory...

Heated seats are the shit for this weather! :P

Cabrios, iX's and 325iS's came with heated seats.
Mine originally came from my old '90 325iS.

where can I find these? someone? lol

they probably weigh a million pounds though. they would be very nice in buffalo, maybe if I found a nice set in black for a decent price

but I'm most likely gonna get racing (technically called "touring") seats for the bimmer for more lateral support.

Not all of the 325is came with the heated seat option. They came on them in Canada and were an option in the US. The package is the Cold Weather Package.

heh heh...its not like there's a radiator strapped to the seat. It simply two heating elements, one for your ass cheeks and the coochie (females luv this feature ;) ) and the other for your lower back.

I think it must have been available as a separate option. My 325iS had the heated seats but not ski bag...
