Seems like the only way is to cut a fucking hole in the metal behind the back seat. Awesome.

The metal behind the rear seat should be perforated, so you can punch it out with a hammer.

          weight reduction FTW.

yesterday i closed my only key in the trunk of the e21, with everything locked, my trunk would normally be locked never unlocked, and i then realized i was fucked. i pushed in the lock just to give it a try and it worked, it was unlocked which was completely out of the ordinary haha

I cant even get the back seat out without opening the back doors. For some reason I cannot even manually unlock and open ANY door besides the driver side door. That doesn't make any fucking sense. I use to be able to unlock whatever door and open it manually on the inside and now they don't work. This is absolutely insane.

Got the keys, haven't sweated that much in a while, it gets hot in there with three doors closed in florida. I'll never buy an e30 that's been sitting or ever let one sit again. This things got so many electrical problems now when it had none. Fucking animals and shit.

Backseat firewall contributes to stiffness. Punch it out and you'll introduce some flex that will never go away.

I realize that doesn't help you at all, but I'm saying it anyway.

Some hipster did this at GFEST 3 years ago .

He had to punch out the tail light and then bought one from Gutenparts.

What sort of stupid is that? You are saying punching out a hole held in place by tiny little bits of metal is going to weaken the chassis? It is already punched out!

Given that most of the chassis is held together by tiny spot welds, I'd say that the ski pass hole makes a very small, but nonzero contribution to stiffness.

Personally, I'd smash a tail light to get in. It's just easier.

and given that our chassis are flexi-flyers in the first place...

                              Easier? Maybe. More expensive? Yes.
