I ditto your Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. As that is very important for prepping the black rubber pieces. Then use Forever Black :)

Krylon Fusion paint for plastic. Super easy to apply and looks great for a rattle can job. It also dries really fast so you can get 3 coats done in no time.

Let it dry for 2 days before putting the trim back on.
Haven't you ever seen Russian Nesting Dolls? They work like that.

I used three or four boxes of magic erasers putting Klaus back together. They also work well for removing overspray, though it takes some work. They're more or less just like 2500 grit sandpaper.

Some virgin solvent and 1500 grit sand paper on the rubber and plastic stuff seems to work well. If you repaint, find John Deere blitz. Excellent trim paint since it doesn't fade fast and is suuuuper durable.

How long does any of this stuff actually last before the sun fades it again?

^painted the trim on my red car over a year ago. Still looks like brand new.

                    I've used this stuff:

Works great and is easy to apply, but it fades/wears off after a year or so.
