    Weight of Mobil 1 for a M42

    I saw bimmer4life runs 0-w40,

I just want your guys input on what weight you think is right for me in Kansas it gets butt cold in the winter and hot as hell in the summer, I have been using 15-W50, as past owner said that is all he has put in it since 30k on the car, and it has 243k now with no rebuilds. Just making sure I'm treating the Engine right.

    I'm using 15w50 on the m42.
It's in the BMW's suggested range, and I haven't encountered any issues switching to these from 20w50 oil.

Hell, at 243k with no rebuilds, you gotta be doing something right, even with a BMW engine.

Drop the low temp viscosity for the winter, think 5W-40 or similar. Bring 'er back up for the summer.

Thanks for the input, I'll keep truckin with my Mobil 1 then, on my 46mile commute each way to work. I should make it to 250k by May, and If I make it to 300k, I may reward myself with a m50.

Im using like 10w30. My engine made some noise with 10w40, even with all the timing components that seem to have been replaced recently
