    Door Dingers

So I've owned my iS for a little over 4 months now, and today I am more than pissed.

I have received a grand totally of; not one, not two, not even three or four, but FIVE door dings in the last 4 months. Two on fenders, and three on my door. Now, if i was the guy thatdidnt put any effort in avoiding these dings (like i do with my daily beater); id be fine, but unfortunately, I'm the guy that takes extra measures like always parks extra far/close to curbs to ensure people have enough space to open the door extra super wide and waddle their fat arse out of the car. All of them were received by crappy 1990s/early 2000s mini-vans, most likely piloted by a midlife crisis middle-aged turd who has already given up on life at the early age of 32.

Sure, my paint is crap; sure my car is old, sure I'm a broke college student that doesn't have time to seek reprocussions for damage of property.
    BUT
How apeshiz will I go when I have all my panels lined up? Brand new paint? Flawless exterior?
    This is why I'm pissed

    Dingers deserve death
Death to dingers; ye phantom grievers of all vehicular owners

I'm right there with you. In the three years I've owned my car I've watched almost flawless doors and fenders receive about 10-15 dings, dents, and shopping cart imprints. I hate it. And my car will continue to receive them as long as it's a daily

I hear ya, just because the paint is not perfect doesn't mean I want it to be worse. we should invent a bubble wrap cover.

If you've got two parts cars next to each other, swing one door open and see how much force you need to cause a dent. I did once....and you'd be surprised at how much force it takes. People who give other people door dings, and doing it on purpose - or so it seems to me.

i agree. My e46 has less door dings and that's the DD I drive park in the crowded train station.

anyway OP if at all possible, I'd PDR it especially if the paint is original on the car. I would not do it immediately but would wait for a year or so so that when additional dings come up, it be cheaper to do them all at once as oppose to a few.

It seriously bothers me when people have no concept of a car being more than a transportation appliance, as if it's totally normal for it to get dinged up in parking lots because that's just what happens. And if we get pissed off about it we're accused of being too materialistic, and so on.

                  People suck.

That looks like a wide spot for use by vans with equipment for the disabled. Not seeing a handicap sign though, so... Not real smart to park there like that.

I hate this, even though the exterior of my car is absolute trash.

Its more of the principle than the damage.

Say what you want, but I am one who doesnt hesitate to return the favor, slightly more vigorously, if necessary.

I mostly did it for teh lulz I also didn't think people would be that dumb or care so little about other people's property. Lesson learned, though. It's a wonderful spot for working on your car, though.
