    Touring got backed into.

I was parked in front of a fire hydrant (yeah i know, that's against the law) and someone from the house across the street pulled out of there driveway and backed into my touring's door. Fucked it up pretty good.

I'm not really mad because the door already had a decent dent with rust on it so I was planning on replacing it anyway.

The guy left me his name and number. I don't really wanna get insurance involved so I'm wondering how much I should ask for if he wants to just pay out right. Or how else should I go about this?

Bummer that you have pinstriping.. id personally ask $200 i think thats reasonable.. insurance would quote higher than that, and im sure you can find a good matching door for around 100ish just my 2 cents.

Go to a body shop and get a real quote; looks like they'd squeeze $300-$400

You can use that as leverage to get as much as your looking to get. It's up to you if you want to be fair or pocket some cash. Luckily, it looks like ONLY the door

Their responsibility by leaving contact info seems rare these days, I'd personally reward that by just asking for what it costs in parts to fix plus maybe $50 for your time/trouble.

Talked to the guy and he said to just get a quote to have it replaced and he'll pay for it all. I figured this wouldn't be a big issue seeing as how the car was parked in an extremely wealthy neighborhood where I was working haha.

How easy is it to replace a door? I'm thinking bout just picking one up at pick n pull and doing it myself. Then just asking him for a couple hundred dollars. Probably cheaper than what any shop would charge.

Well lucky you! its pretty common sense to change a door.. you can probably do it yourself or have someone help you hold it while you screw/unscrew the hinges on. you'll have to remove the door panels to disconnect all wiring first though.. don't try to unhinge the door without all wires disconnected

No need to remove the door panel to disconnect wires. There is a plug in the door jamb for that. But you will most likely have to removed the door panel to swap it to the new door anyway

^ This. I'd like to meet the geniuses who've cut the door wires from the rigs I've seen at yards.
