    Euro e24 - or mr2?

    What about this mr2? http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/3668965515.html

I regret buying my rusty e36 and want to trade it (and maybe my only running e30) in for this: http://www.prestigeimport.com/detail...ID=11665&.aspx

I think I'd have more fun autocrossing this beast than my other pos's that need work. For once it would be really nice to just get a car that is in good, original condition that I can enjoy for the summer. I would keep it stock, maybe do some suspension work if it needs it.

I don't follow e24 prices, so I have to ask how reasonable the price is, keeping in mind it's a legit euro e24, 5 speed, in good condition with low miles, in the rust belt. Thanks for any advice.

It would be a fun car to have but, an e30 is definitely going to be more fun to autocross.

Seems like a trade up to me. Would it be straight across or plus cash on your end? Would the E30 make up the difference you mean?

Edit: I agree that the E24 is not nearly as tossable as an E30, due to the extra weight and wheelbase amongst other things. That said, if it's in much better shape you might enjoy it more due to the actual time using it. :)

nonono e24s are not cars to autocross they are great cruisers, comfy and oddly good at doing canyon runs but autocross eeehhh no

It can't be that bad autocrossing or tracking, can it? I would look at it as a fun challenge, and just enjoy seeing what the car can do. I'm an autox noob anyway, so I don't take it too seriously.

I haven't gone and looked at it yet or discussed a trade in. My e30 would make up the difference I think, but I'm reluctant to let go of of it.

Regardless, the price will set me back, but will it be worth it in the long run? I mean, it's a relatively rare car with a clean history, and I have no problem keeping it in good condition. I've had the same year e28, which I enjoyed working on.

e24s are not great autocross cars... they're a fair bit heavier and bigger than e30s. The power is great, but hustling that weight around is not easy.

That car is great and you should get it, though. It's a very rare car, and looks to be in great condition. I'm very happy with mine.

So you found a euro car and you're asking if it's worthwhile?

I think they were options, It was also an option on the US M5 and M535i i believe.

Still only an option I believe.

OP, I would choose the E24 over an MR2, but the Toyota would be much better for autocrossing.

I know it's worthwhile, but I was hoping that people more knowledgeable of e24s could tell me if the asking price was fair, which I'm now certain it is. I'm for sure going to sell my e36 but I don't know if I want spend the extra to replace it with the car in question, since I'm not exactly rich and I'm already up to my neck in e30 projects.

But man that would be a sweet car to have... My dad would love it especially and I would like for him to drive it and enjoy it too.

That is an unreal price for a clean euro e24. I miss my e24s so BAD!

I own a AW11 MR2. But I wouldn't buy that one. 89 super charged T-tops are the most desirable and one I'd hold out for. It'll be really tough to find one in your area rust free and in really good condition, so you'd probably have to consider traveling for one. From the 2 you've listed, the 6 is definitely a nicer looking car, but the MR2 I think is way more fun to drive and less expensive to maintain.
