    What would it take to switch to power windows?

    I just got a 84 318i, i also have a 84 325e. But the 318 isnt power and i was wondering how much work, or if you know if there is an aritice somewhere on how to switch to Power windows, and sunroof

    Windows will be hard as the wirign for the switchs is built into the main chassis wiring harness and the manual window cars, don't have the plugs.
    You coul ddo it but you'd need to do a lot of custom wiring.
    The power sunroof swap on the other hand can be done and you just need the parts and plug them right in.

      Why would you want power windows?!
      I think crank windows are great! (so much less hassle)

        Who likes leaning over to open their passenger window for more airflow or to talk to someone? Hassle with a power window? Motors die once in awhile, that's about it. They don't weigh that much more than a crank one either.

          My 318 has power and my 323 has crank, and my personal preference is the crank windows. I've had a lot of trouble with power windows.. but maybe that's not the case for everyone.

              that's only when you are opening both ( or all 4 ) at the same time.... :roll:
