That is pretty cool. Its pretty impressive how the entire drivetrain and subframes are assembled and then the body is just kinda popped on.

I am actually kinda shocked about how much is still done by hand, like the fitament of the wiring harness. That might explain all the temporary wireties and bands that I have found when delving into my dash where no man has gone before (at least not until novermber of 84).

I liked how the painting robots closed the door after they sprayed the inside. Now THAT is automated.

Anynone who understand that, what is the first chemical bath? The last one was primer but there was a clearish one with the green tint.

The green tint one. Isnt it just what you said, a chemical bath to rid the metal of any impurites and oils and junk? I have seen it used in chroming processes, but forget what it is.

well it WAS painted that well (if bmw did similar things during produciton int he 80's)


I bet our cars were a bit more hand built though..

is it like snapshots put together to make somewhat of movie because it isnt a smooth flow of a movie and it gets chopped up and every so often buffers.

Really annoying i gave up after 3rd try :x

I think someone should find a video like that but with the E30s from the 80's :P

Great video. Showed it to my German friend, he says he wants to be the guy who just presses buttons to create sheetmetal that becomes trunks and get paid for it too...

best part of the video is the giant warehouses filled with painted E46 chassis'.
